LDM — Ultrasound for Skin That Needs Calming
Cellon Dermatology Clinic, Cheongdam, Seoul — LDM uses ultrasound to act on the skin's own regeneration and barrier function. It is used less for lifting than for settling skin that is sensitive, inflamed, or recovering, and for drawing moisture into the dermal layer.
What it is used for at Cellon
- Water drop programme
- Skin gloss, firmness, fine lines, and pore appearance.
- Regeneration programme
- Sensitive skin, skin tone, and skin trouble.
- Facial redness programme
- Skin texture, pores, facial flushing, and skin trouble.
- Acne programme
- Acne, acne-related redness, acne scarring, texture, and pore appearance.
- Alongside laser
- Settling, hydration, and recovery support after laser treatment.
Why moisture distribution matters
Hyaluronic acid, one of the glycosaminoglycans in skin, is largely water and holds moisture around it. With ageing, the arrangement of these molecules becomes uneven, and moisture distribution follows. Even distribution of GAG through the tissue is what allows moisture to be held evenly rather than in patches — which is the difference between skin that feels dry and skin that does not.

How the procedure works
- Consultation — skin sensitivity, inflammation, and any recent procedures are assessed, and the programme is selected.
- Cleansing and application of conducting medium.
- Ultrasound delivered across the treatment area at the selected setting.
- Post-treatment skincare guidance; normal activity resumes immediately.
- Review between sessions according to skin response.
Indications and contraindications
- Best candidates
- Adults with sensitive or reactive skin, facial redness, acne-prone skin, or skin recovering after laser treatment, who want a low-irritation option.
- Limited benefit
- LDM does not lift lax tissue and does not replace lost volume. Where structural laxity is the concern, energy-based lifting or thread lifting is more appropriate.
- Contraindications
- Pregnancy, active skin infection at the treatment site, implanted electronic devices in the treatment area, open wounds.
- Side effects
- Transient redness or warmth. The treatment is low-irritation by design, but individual reaction varies. All adverse events should be reported to the clinic.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a lifting treatment?
Not primarily. Despite the name, it is used mainly for calming sensitive or inflamed skin and for recovery support rather than for lifting lax tissue.
Does it hurt?
No. The treatment is not heat-based, and anaesthesia is not required.
Can it be used on sensitive skin?
That is one of its main uses. Sensitive skin, facial redness, and acne-prone skin are among the programmes offered.
How soon after laser can it be done?
Often in the same visit or shortly after, to support settling and hydration. Timing is decided by the treating physician.
How many sessions are needed?
Usually staged in a series. The number and interval depend on skin condition and what it is combined with.
Is there downtime?
None. Normal activity and skincare resume immediately, with guidance.
